Zola
What’s interesting is how many comments I still receive on my post on Zola back in 2007. He certainly is one popular dude, not just in SA but across Africa. If you have ever watched Zola 7 you would have seen that this guy has something special going on. The show is about making people’s dreams come true in 3 days and it just proves how much human beings [especially those living on the breadline] need HOPE to survive. With the current economic climate being so dreary the show is set to become more and more powerful.
It seems to be a combination of Zola’s ‘bad boy’ rep [tends to get into the news for doing 'bad' things like smacking someone who allegedly took money from his mother etc.] and his warm heart that has made him a mega SA brand. He’s kinda like a nut, hard on the outside and soft on the inside. The Zola brand is now said to be worth mega millions. I am personally a huge fan of the show [and the person] and I believe he is truly a man of the people, the Zola 7 show would clearly be nothing without him. He cares and the show makes a difference on the ground [kudos to the SABC for that] not just by giving but also by teaching important life lessons. We need more of these kinda shows please.
For those that have not yet watched it, its on SABC1 on Thursday at 7pm. For the whities if you still don’t know the man, I give up. You live under a rock really!
Not to make this political but if Zuma manages to make even 50% of the difference Zola makes in the eyes of the average person in SA then he can call himself a man of the people. Until then, Zola is the man…at the moment all they have in common is the ZZZZZZZ ok….and maybe a few legal issues!
I’m a big fan of the show and Zola himself since yizo-yizo’s getho fabulous to other albums he released. The man realy represent black people of SA and he has proven that dreams are achieveable regardles of their weight or magnitude. I always get inspired and pushed when listening to his tracks and waching his shows. Big ups Mzolisto we luv you man.
I didn’t like it when I read the article with the comparison made between him and JZ, I felt a bit embarased that our own black people are still taking our president for granted and still pointing fingers pertaining issues which have been dealt with in the court of law long ago, I thought that was Hellen Zille alone.
I don’t believe that Zola would support that himself and as far as I know him he is supporting our democratically elected president. They both eager to help our people hence is not the Z that is common between them. By working together we can do more if we fail, is not JZ we all failed is we succeed is not JZ again we all succeeded.
Hey there Dumisani, thanks for your comment.
Luckily we live in a democracy and at times we will have differing opinions. I respect your opinion but I am Zola fan [am not really concerned if he supports Zuma- that is his choice], I am however not really a Zuma fan, for many reasons. I am however at this point attempting to give him a chance and am hoping that he will not become what I think he is! My jury is out….
